Sakamata Chloe Announces End of Streaming Activities During 3rd Anniversary Celebration

Hololive’s million-subscriber VTuber and 6th Generation “holoX” member, Sakamata Chloe (沙花叉クロヱ), had planned to celebrate her 3rd debut anniversary on November 29. However, shortly after starting the livestream, she delivered shocking news to tens of thousands of viewers. She announced that her streaming activities would come to an end on January 26 next year.

The primary reason cited was a misalignment between her future plans and the company’s direction. Additionally, the heavy workload had caused significant stress, adversely affecting her physical and mental health, with throat issues being a major concern. This ultimately led her to make this difficult decision.

Hololive expressed gratitude for Sakamata Chloe’s contributions over the years and emphasized that she will remain a part of the Hololive family. The company highlighted that, similar to Watson Amelia, her IP will be retained, allowing for potential “guest appearances” in future collaborations.

Ceres Fauna Announces Graduation Amid Disagreement with Management

On December 1, Hololive EN’s second-generation member Ceres Fauna, with nearly a million subscribers, unexpectedly went live to deliver a somber and emotional announcement: she will be graduating (retiring) on January 3. During the stream, Fauna expressed her deep love for streaming, describing it as her dream job. However, due to differences in opinions with management, she felt compelled to choose graduation as her path forward.

In Hololive’s official statement, the term “Graduation” was explicitly used, indicating that Fauna’s departure will be in the complete sense, unlike Sakamata Chloe, who retains the possibility of future collaborations. However, Fauna also announced that after her graduation, all content on her channel, including members-only videos, will be made freely available, allowing fans to reminisce about the cherished moments they shared.

COVER Explains the Difference Between “Graduation” and “Conclusion of Streaming Activities”

Hololive’s parent company, COVER, released a bilingual statement in English and Japanese to clarify the distinction between “Graduation” and “Conclusion of Streaming Activities.” According to the explanation, “Graduation” refers to a talent leaving the agency and ceasing all activities, while “Conclusion of Streaming Activities” specifically denotes the end of their activities on YouTube and social media platforms.

COVER further elaborated that the comprehensive nature of “Graduation” often causes fans significant emotional distress. To address this, the company introduced the concept of “Conclusion of Streaming Activities” with a more positive perspective, allowing departing talents the opportunity to appear as “special guests” in future events, akin to alumni returning to their alma mater.

COVER emphasized that there is no hierarchy or value judgment between “Graduation” and “Conclusion of Streaming Activities.” The company reiterated its unwavering respect for the choices made by its talents.

Despite COVER’s clarification, recent changes involving Sakamata Chloe and Ceres Fauna, have sparked unease among Hololive fans. Many have shared their thoughts on social media and forums like Reddit, raising questions about the agency’s current direction.
